Fairmont Mayakoba

There is a tradition every April if you live in a ski town…mass exodus to warm weather is required, and many times it is seeking sand, sun, and sea.  We followed suit this past April and had a fabulous trip to the Fairmont Mayakoba, a luxury resort located near Playa Del Carmen, Mexico in the Riveria Maya.  This place delivered on all fronts.

Here is some additional information about the area and the resort:

The Riviera Maya is located in Mexico on the Yucatan Peninsula in the State of Quintana Roo, Mexico. This legendary destination offers an array of unique entertainment options: sandy beaches, invigorating water sports, designer and colorful local shopping, exquisite cuisine and exciting nightlife.

Many visitors come to experience Cozumel -one of the world’s premier diving and snorkeling destinations first made famous by famed French marine pioneer Jacques Cousteau- where the warm currents and coral reefs support a breathtaking pantheon of marine life. Others come to explore Chichén Itzá, one of the world’s new seven wonders, and experience the fascinating world of the Mayans, whose mythology, science and culture can still be felt today. Most want a taste of it all: the delicate jungle, the alabaster white sand beaches, the crystal clear turquoise water, the fine cuisine and the spectacular nightlife!

Fairmont Mayakoba is located approximately 42 miles or 70 km south of Cancun, within the Mayakoba resort development, a secure 240-acre gated community surrounded by canals, shoreline and mangrove forests, which is only accessible via one main entrance point.

Looking out from Fairmont Mayakoba’s 401 elegant guest rooms and suites reveals splendid views of picturesque mangrove forest and lagoons, the surrounding championship El Camaleon golf course or the azure sea. Against this vibrant backdrop, savor authentic Mexican and international delicacies at three exceptional restaurants, get energized at the state of-the-art health club, and indulge in an array of treatments at Willow Stream Spa. Fairmont Mayakoba’s welcoming pools and kids’ club add a touch of family fun. When it comes to meetings and events, a full-service convention center offers generous indoor and outdoor function space, making every occasion a delight.

Fairmont Mayakoba—a place where bicycles, lanchas (boats) and your own two feet transport you from place to place—sustainability and serenity are key, and a memorable getaway is certain!”
